The Florida Keys coral reef damage is a source of concern in the global warming context

The Pickles Reef in Florida is in danger due to global warming, says biologist Jennifer Stein from Nature Conservancy. Jennifer Stein studies the coral reef damage. She and fellow researchers dive into the waters of Florida Keys and find increasing samples of ocean life facing sickness and death.

Reef Damage due to Global Warming

The recent debate concerning the climate change pendulates over job offer and the need to protect the planet and its resources for future generations. The Trump administration has often stated that it will work on protecting job offers for American offers.

However, global warming affects the sea and conducts to the coral reef damage, including decaying. And it is further evidence for the threat of global economies, say researchers.

The concern is about the Florida Keys, which has an economy that revolves around the coral reef. This is mainly so because the 113-mile-long Overseas Highway that links the mainland and Key West involves islands that have emerged from an ancient coral reef archipelago.

Visitors that come to the Florida Keys often resort to scuba diving, and Cece Roycraft and a partner own the Dive Key West shop. Their operations, and many other businesses like Cece Roycrafts’s one, depend on the healthiness of the coral reef. However, as the coral reef damage spreads and intensifies, the lawmakers and citizens from the Florida Keys resort to creating a legislative context to train workers and others to properly use the marine biotope around Keys.

Roycraft especially has worked with others into drafting a federal program to certify vessels into training crews in proper coral protection practices, as well as proper mooring rules.

Tourism in the Florida Keys, according to the same Roycraft,

“is the economic engine of the Florida Keys. There is no other way for people to make money”.

As such, ensuring that the coral reef damage is properly assessed and it is prevented for the future in the context of global warming.
